Critical information systems are all around us. And they generate big data - megabytes upon terabytes of fast-moving, disparate information. At TerraEchos, we develop solutions that collect data as it streams, make sense of it and act on it instantaneously for monitoring and security. That's big data, applied. At last.

Security and monitoring systems produce a vast amount of data - computer, digital, video, audio, motion, acoustic, GPS, infrared, thermal and more. Our core analytic technology communicates with information systems and networks in real time. It then collects and processes the data received from each.

At the heart of our solution is IBM InfoSphere Streams. InfoSphere Streams processes a variety of high-volume, big data in motion at blistering speeds. It enables our compute appliances to pull what's valuable from streaming data in real time without having to store it.

Our proprietary analytic code analyzes data as it streams through the processor, flagging potential anomalies and threats (whether physical and/or cyber). It then communicates to other devices in the network to verify- for example aiming video surveillance, running a network virus scan or checking a thermostat.

Once the threat or issue is confirmed, action is taken - notifying personnel of the situation including issue type, precise location(s) and timing(s). Even live video and GIS data can be sent to personnel for further verification and monitoring. Our solution does all of this in milliseconds.

Founder Alex Philp shares how analyzing big data in motion is making energy infrastructure and smart grids more secure.

TerraEchos is an official IBM PREMIER Business Partner, working closely with IBM on the systemic integration of Infosphere Streams as a core data processing component for the Kairos and Adelos systems.

TerraEchos chose Streams to process massive amounts of digital acoustic and associated sensor streams in a robust, scalable, and parallel manner.

Streams allows Kairos and Adelos to deliver actionable intelligence across the security horizon.

About Streams:

IBM InfoSphere Streams enables continuous and extremely fast analysis of massive volumes of information-in-motion to help improve business insights and decision making.
InfoSphere Streams radically extends the state of the art in information processing by simultaneously addressing several technical challenges, including:

- Sub millisecond response times to events
- Continuous analysis of data at rates significantly higher than existing technologies
- Support for structured as well as unstructured data forms
- High availability and Strong security and confidentiality
